NSF fees a member has been charged. Is there a field that separates the number of NSFs from the number of Courtesy Pay (ANR) items? I do not want to include ANR.

Credit unions are using this dashboard to help predict averages of NSF/Courtesy Pay fee income and also to track how many members may be using the service. You can click on any of the origins (listed in blue text) and you can drill further to members who had more than X transactions in a specific month. There are a lot of graphical oppor More...

While reviewing my BSA report I found a cash-back audit key record in the Teller Audit inquiry list without an offsetting transaction. How could that have happened?
This happens rarely, but usually when we see orphaned records like this it's because the employee exited their CU*BASE session improperly in the middle of processing a transaction, either by clicking the close button or due to an unexpected power or communications interruption. For example, once a cash transaction is posted and the CTR screens are presented, the user must proceed; there is no way to back up and cancel the transaction at that point. Some users get desperate and click the More...

What is the best way to calculate a payoff for a mortgage loan which has an interest calculation type of 30/360?
The CU*BASE system does not have an automated method of calculating the payoffs for loans with a 30/360 interest calcuation type. The number of variables relative to the timing of the payoff, interest accrual, and interest calculation methods require that this function be done manually by someone who thouroghly understands the mortgage market. Interim payoffs on 30/360 loans are typically calculated by using the daily interest calculation method. As an example, the member calls on the 5th, More...

What options does my CU have to be creative with how I charge NSF and ANR (Courtesy Pay) fees?
Here are just a few ideas: Configure an NSF fee to be per item or per day. Most CUs have not approached the per day concept, but it is available to prevent multiple fees from posting to members when multiple items are NSF on the same day. (Find this in Tool #558 NSF/OD Transfer Configuration .) Configure your ANR fee not to be assessed within $x of the member's available balance. Is there a config option that we can change to have the Skip-a-Pay feature push out the review date on the loan? It currently pushes out the next due date and the maturity date, but not the review date. Or is this done by design?
Review dates are typically set up X months after an account is opened. The open date is not changing when skips are processed and the credit union still wants to give a member that 5-year draw period (for example), regardless of how many payments are made during that time. That is the reason the review date is not touched when skips are processed and the reason a change to that logic is not on our development horizon to change in the near future.

I understand there was a format change to the AIRES file in June 2021. I am having trouble uploading it to the Brick and Associates ALM software. Any tips?
The change was made to comply with NCUA requirements for the AIRES format. (We performed a beta-test of this with the NCUA in June 2021.) If you are having trouble sending those files to third parties such as your ALM provider, you will either need to make any adjustment to the file before sending it (instructions below), or contact your provider and ask them to adjust for the new NCUA format. The change that was made affected the number of fields (columns) on the report. Previously the AIRES More...
