Print sessions are just a pass-through application, that take information from the iSeries host and route the document to a Windows printer already installed on the workstation. Print sessions can also be used to write the document to a file on the hard drive. To set what printer a session routes to, or to determine whether the correct printer is selected, follow these steps:
-
Open the print session if it is not already open. (Note: the session does not need to be signed in.)
-
Click on the "File" menu.
-
Open the "Printer Setup" option.
-
Within this dialog, verify that the correct printer is selected (highlighted).
-
The "Use Windows Default Printer" option should not be selected; this can cause issues between user profiles.
-
Click "OK" to confirm the selection.
If this is a session that writes a file to the hard drive, such as for an eDOC receipt or loan printer, there are a few additional steps (these steps are automatically completed when using the "Create GOLD Printer" tool):
-
From the "Printer Setup" dialog, the "Print To Disk - Separate" option should be selected.
-
Click the "Setup" button.
-
In the middle column, ensure the proper directory is selected.
-
Click "OK."
-
Click the "Select PDT" button.
-
Ensure that the "basic_ascii.pdt" file is selected.
-
Click "OK" twice.
