ABC Credit Union is trying to reconcile the number of suppressed statements on the Statement Reconcilation Analysis (dashboard).  To do this, they need to add the number of statements that were not mailed, either because they were set to archive (see below) or because they had the wrong address flag checked. (Removing duplicate entries in both groups is also necessary.)  In addition, they need to consider accounts that were closed in the statement period.

Here is the math to reconcile the "Less suppressed statements" total used in the "Member counts" section in the dashboard:
To do this the credit union needs to count the following:
  • Active Accounts with a no mail code (NOMAIL) code greater than 0 that are flagged as Archived Only
  • Add Active Accounts with a wrong address flag (WRADD) not equal to 0
  • Subtract Active Accounts that have both flags (to prevent counting them twice)
  • The table to use for these totals is EMSmmyy where mm = the statement ending month and yy = statement ending year.
Next consider accounts closed in the statement period that are not in the active table (file).
  • Add Closed Accounts that were closed in the statement period with a no mail (NOMAIL) code greater than 0 that are flagged as Archived Only.
  • Add Closed Accounts with a wrong address (WRADD) not equal to 0 that were closed in the statement period.
  • Subtract Closed Accounts that have both flags (to prevent counting them twice)
  • The table to use for these totals are EMHmmyy where mm = statement ending month and yy = statement ending year joined with the Statement Control File (STMCTR). Select the statement date of the statement period being researched (STDATE) and the account suffix of 000 (ACTTYP). This table is required to exclude members who closed their accounts during a quarterly statement period and received a statement in the first two months of the quarter.
Add these two totals together to match to the "Less Suppressed" count on the dashboard.
