When the new database was created it was not feasible to adjust all of the hundreds of programs, custom forms, and reports where phone numbers happened to be used. So the original labels used prior to the 18.07 release may still appear here and there.

That’s why the new database automatically copies contact numbers back to the original locations in MASTER and MASTRL, so these locations can still be used by those programs that were not adjusted to use the new MASTPH table directly. As a rule:

Anywhere you see “home” think 1 (or lowest seq #)
Anywhere you see “cell” or “other” think 2 (or second from lowest seq #)
Anywhere you see “work” think 3 (or third from lowest seq #)

NOTE: Previous phone and fax # were originally converted as seq # 4 and 5, respectively, but as these numbers do not routinely appear on screens or reports, the standard routine does not include these when copying data from the new database back to the old fields.
