There is a flag on the additional signer record called Delinquent Level (0-4). This flag determines which stage/level of delinquency the loan must reach before an additional signer will receive a delinquency notice. If this field is left blank (0) the additional signer will not receive delinquency notices. This field can be easily viewed/changed through Tool #51 "Miscellaneous Loan Maintenance" - then choose Additional Signer information.
Valid delinquency levels 1-4 are configured at the credit union level. Feel free to contact a Client Service Representative to review your configuration.
A co-signer may also miss a delinquency notice due to the timing of payments:
- During daily delinquency monitoring (can be BOD or EOD depending on CU config) the system determines the loan’s delinquency level and generates a notice event.
- When the notices are printed by the CU, the system generates the notice to the member, and then looks at the delinquency level of the account, compares it to the notice level on the additional signer record (which controls at which notice level the additional signer starts getting notices), then produces a copy of the same notice addressed to the additional signer.
- If between the time delinquency monitoring is done and the time when notices are printed, the delinquency level on the loan account changes (like the member makes a payment), then when notices are printed, even though a notice will still be produced for the member, the additional signer might not get a notice, if the loan is no longer at a level at which they are supposed to receive one.
