There are several reasons that CU*Answers has adopted this policy. First, when the updates are released, certain screens from previous versions will no longer be displayed correctly. As a service to our clients, we do not want GOLD screens to be displayed in the old terminal emulation mode (green screen), which can be confusing to users.

 

In addition, if more than one update is missed, components from updates past the most recent release may be permanently lost (update packages only contain current enhancements, not cumulative enhancements), this will also lead to incorrect screen displays, decreased program functionality and increased difficulty using GOLD. The only way to correct this is to order a full installation CD-ROM from CU*Answers.

 

By forcing this update within 10 days of the release, we can ensure that the above said issues no longer happen and the full update can be applied from the downloaded update file.
