Due to stronger rules and regulations for member privacy and identity theft scares, the ancillary service endorsement for member statements was changed in 2005 from "Address Service Requested" to "Return Service Requested."  This endorsement overrides any forwarding orders the member may have with the Post Office.

The benefit of this endorsement for a financial institution is that it protects your members’ confidential financial and personal information from being stolen by an attempt to place an unauthorized forwarding order on a member’s address (i.e., John T. Badguy requests a forwarding order for Jane Smith's address, so all of Jane's mail is delivered to John).
