The credit union will be responsible for receiving the written inquiries on fraudulent and disputed charges. You will receive the receipt copies or written response on fraud claims.  Then you will fill out a form supplied by FIS or other credit card vendor.  All information needed to fill it out can be found on CU*BASE through Phone Operator History inquiry.  Next, you will copy the materials received and fax them over to FIS/other credit card vendor for research and response.

Your credit union will need to set your own procedures to determine how you wish to handle the disputed amounts so they are not used in calculating finance charges.  Most credit unions move this amount to a holding G/L for disputed items via Account Adjustment then either re-post back to the member’s account if denied or do an entry for the credit to this G/L.
