This process will be a big change for you, as your credit union is now responsible for taking these calls and applying the appropriate block code on the member’s card record during your hours of operation.

Please note that when you apply a block code of ‘S’, ‘L’, or ‘F’ on the CU*BASE system, it interactively sends the block code and request for update to VISA and the EWB (Electronic Warning Bulletin).  The EWB is only applied to the US region only and is set at 90 days.  You would manually need to go to the credit card vendor site to include in EWB for foreign countries.

During your closed hours, you will contract with your credit card vendor to take those calls on your behalf.  They will block the cards on their system which also gets them into the EWB immediately.  You are then responsible for obtaining a listing of this work they have done on your behalf on the credit card vendor’s system.  You will then have to update these block codes on CU*BASE system.  This will be a daily task that should be done as soon as possible in the morning.
