CU*NextNET features automatic Internet VPN backup using the credit unions' existing secure (i.e. firewalled) Internet connection. VPN backup is offered at no charge, but the credit union must have a static IP address.

CU*NextNET does feature improved internal network (i.e. the Telco network fabric) reliability over the previous generation frame relay-based network. The MPLS technology allows for improved internal routing around failed links inside the Telco network fabric and in fact Qwest claims their internal reroute time on their MPLS network is up to 300% faster than their previous technologies.
