The most common scenario that this is needed is if an extremely large document (hundreds of pages) is accidentally sent to a printer instead of a hold OUTQ.  Please follow these steps if you need to stop the document from printing:

  1. First, power off the printer!
  2. Close the print session that controls the printer.
  3. Disconnect the power cable from the printer.  This will remove all power from the printer and clear it's memory.  If this is not done, the printer is likely to continue printing when it is powered back on, even if the document is canceled in GOLD and Windows.  This is because a portion of the document has already been written the printers memory, and it must be cleared to completely cancel the job.  It is recommended to leave the printer powered off for at least 10 minutes to ensure that it's memory is cleared.
  4. On the PC that had the print session active, click on "Start."  Depending on how your Start Menu is configured, navigate directly to "Printers And Faxes" or select "Settings" and then "Printers And Faxes."
  5. Locate the printer and double-click it.
  6. Click the "Printer" menu and select "Cancel all print jobs."
  7. Close the printer window and the "Printers And Faxes" window.
  8. Within GOLD, using the Time Out feature, select "Work With Output Queues."
  9. Locate the GOLD printer and select it.
  10. Find the print job that you wish to stop, click on it to highlight it, and click "Hold."  The status should change to "HLD" when you refresh the window.
  11. Bring everything back online -- the printer and the print session.
  12. Please note that one or two pages may still feed out of the printer.  These are pages that were being printed when the printer was powered off and is normal.
  13. If the printer continues to print, power off the printer and contact a member of the WESCO Net Team for assistance.
