The answer depends on which network component is offline. The "host" in this case refers to the iSeries that runs CU*BASE member files and processes your member data. The "online banking server" refers to the equipment and programming that runs It's Me 247 online banking itself (there are actually multiple servers).
- If only the CU*Answers host is offline (online clients) - We can use the online banking servers to display a standard splash page explaining the situation. If for any reason we cannot initiate a splash page, a simple error will appear to members instead: "We are unable to communicate with the credit union at this time. Please try again later."
- If the online banking server is offline (online or self processing clients) - We will usually display a splash page (looks different from the one mentioned above), initiated in advance by our technical staff. Extremely short outages may not use this, but it is initiated in most cases where we need to perform maintenance to the online banking server(s).
- If network connectivity to the Internet is down (like our routine network maintenance on the third Tuesday of the month) - We are able to send an alert to CUs and in some cases will also publish an OBC article in advance; however, no splash page is possible since the member cannot connect to the server with their browser until connectivity is restored.
In a true disaster mode (i.e., long-term outage of the entire network), there are additional options we can initiate for redirecting traffic to a backup or temporary site, but this would not apply to scheduled maintenance nor short-term outages.
Special Note for Self Processors:
- If the credit union host is offline (both the CU*Answers host and the online banking server are still up), self processing clients can make use of a new Splash Page Manager web-based tool to display alert messages to their members. These messages are managed by the credit union and turned on and off by a credit union representative. This is intended for when you are running daily or month-end processing or performing maintenance on your iSeries. See below for more information about this optional service (one-time startup fee and monthly maintenance apply).
