There are several things that cause a member to be blocked when they have a temporary password.
- They are a new member who has not yet been given a temporary password. When the user types in their account base and password, they will receive a message that says “Invalid account number.” The solution here is for the MSR set a temporary password for the member.
- A member attempts to login with an expired temporary password. When the user types in their account base and password, they will receive a message that says “Your online access has been disabled for security reasons.” If they have security answers, they will see a Recover My Account option, which they can click to answer the questions and reset the password themselves. If not, they will have to contact the credit union.
The only other consideration that may let a member log into online banking if their temporary password is expired is if they qualify for an online banking promotion. In this case, even if their password is expired, they will still be allowed to log into online banking because the promotion allows it.
