Your credit union may escheat checks that are over a certain number of days old, for example if you are handling unclaimed property.

First, place a stop pay on the check using Tool #324: CU Check/Bank Reconciliation, following the directions linked to below.

Second, create a journal entry, moving your funds from your check G/L to another suspense G/L configured for this purpose.

Lastly, in the case of unclaimed property, issue a check of the appropriate state from this second G/L.
