The purpose of these steps is to assist credit unions in connecting to their virtual environments during the week of testing.

1. Install the Omnissa VMware Horizon Client for Windows.
  • Download the Omnissa VMware Client for Windows. (Click HERE to download the file)
  • Click the "Download Now" button, wait for the client to download, then open the file to start the installer.
  • Select "Agree & Upgrade." The installer will run through and apply any patches or prerequisites.
  • Once completed, the installer will ask you to restart your workstation to finish the install.

2. Once your workstation has completed the restart, you will need to install the FortiGate Client as well as FortiToken Mobile to connect remotely to the virtual environment. Start with the FortiGate client.

  • Once you have selected FortiClient VPN-only, select "Download VPN for Windows."

  • Fill out FortiNet's requested information, and then click "Download Now."
  • Once the download has completed, run the installer.
3. Once the Horizon client and the FortiNet client are installed, the last piece is the FortiToken Mobile app. You can download this from either the Play Store or the Apple Store. You will have received an email with instructions on how to setup the FortiToken app from your virtual branch engineer. Once the application is installed and configured, you can move forward with getting logged into the virtual environment.

4. Open the FortiClient application on your workstation.

  • Click the three-line menu (also known as a hamburger icon) to the right of the VPN Name and choose "Add a new connection."
  • You should then see the following configuration screen:
  • Once the settings have been configured, select the "Save" button. You will be brought back to the login where it will ask for a username and password. This will be provided by your virtual branch engineer.
  • After entering your credentials, it will also ask for a six-digit code which will be provided to you by the FortiToken mobile app. Enter the code and it will finish connecting where you should see a screen like this:

5. Now that you are connected to the VPN for the virtual branch, the next step is to gain access to the virtual desktops that reside in the virtual environment. Open the Omnissa Horizon Client.
  • You should see the following:
  • Click the three dots and select "Connect."
  • You will receive a warning that the client cannot verify the identity of the server you have connected to. This is normal. Click "Continue."
  • At the login screen, please enter the credentials your virtual branch engineer provided you.
  • You will be brought to a screen that will have an icon with your credit union's name attached to it. Click the three dots and select "Launch."
  • This will then bring you to the virtual branch desktop. (Note: If it is your first time logging in, it may take up to five minutes or more to get you fully logged in).
  • Congratulations! You are now set to begin testing in the virtual branch environment.
