Journal Entry comments are for the entire batch, and the entire batch is defined based upon the following elements:
  • Corp ID - For most CUs this is always 01.
  • Effective Posting Date - This is the date that the entry hits your general ledger.
  • JEID (Journal Entry ID) - This is the 2-digit employee who is entering the batch, or in some cases the automate J/E ID that the computer uses.
  • JEID ID # - For manually-created batches this is entered by the user and is often the “actual” date the entry was created, typically in YYMMDD format for easier sorting.
Therefore, if you have specific debits/credits from a batch that need to be called out in the comments, you may wish to reference the sequence numbers within your comment text.
