This message will appear when using
Tool #20 Update Account Information to make any change to account fields (not just the feeze code itself), in cases where the account (can be any type of account) has been frozen based on your credit union's collections parameters. (These are configured via
Tool #225 Collections Parameter Configuration.) This message will also appear when you try to freeze an account while creating a Member Account Comment via Tool #70 or Phone Operator.
Remember that delinquency monitoring is allowed to automatically remove freezes once a delinquent loan has been brought current. The purpose of this message, then, is to allow you to decide whether you want to retain the freeze that the delinquency system put on, or make your new freeze code permanent.
Option A: Leave the "Prevent from being changed by delinquency monitoring" box unchecked
If you do not check the box on this screen and use Confirm, delinquency monitoring will continue to place the appropriate freeze code as configured in your configuration, which means that whatever change you made to the code now will only last until the next time delinquency monitoring runs.
Option B: Check the "Prevent from being changed by delinquency monitoring" box
If you check the box on this screen and use Confirm, you are selecting to manually change the freeze indicator permanently on this account. Delinquency monitoring will not attempt to adjust that freeze code going forward, with the following exception: If you are actually
removing the freeze code (0 All activity allowed), delinquency monitoring
will freeze this account later should conditions require it.
Other tips:
- IMPORTANT!! If you check this box, delinquency monitoring will not remove the freeze when the delinquent loan becomes current. You many need to manually change or remove the freeze code. It is recommended that you make a reminder for yourself to take this step at the appropriate time, perhaps through a Tracker follow-up.
- Although the most common reason to get this warning is when you are adding or changing a freeze code, you will also see it when adjusting any account details on an account that's been frozen via delinquency monitoring, even if you aren't actually changing the freeze code itself. If you aren't changing the freeze code, it usually best to leave the "Prevent..." box unchecked so nothing changes related to the account freeze.
- Checking this box does not remove a loan from delinquency monitoring. It simply stops delinquency monitoring from changing the freeze code placed on this account. For example, if you have a member in bankruptcy, you might use this feature to permanently place a freeze code of 3 (no deposits or withdrawals) on a loan, especially if delinquency monitoring would normally place a freeze code of 1 (no withdrawals).
- If you only want to unfreeze an account in order to post a single transaction, use the Teller Override feature instead. (This can be done via a button on the Time-out window, or via Tool #585 Perform Transaction Override.)
- When the box is checked on this screen, this change is recorded in CUFMAINT and can be viewed in the File Maintenance inquiry or report. (A change to the FRZIND code will also be recorded. This is the indicator that shows whether the freeze had originally been placed by the delinquency monitoring system.)
- If you encountered this warning while working in Tool #20 Update Account Information, any other changes you made on that screen will be saved when you use Confirm on this window.
