ABC Credit Union configured their loan category with their payment matrix having fines in the last position. They also allowed the member to pay ahead on their loan by selecting a “Next payment date/delinq control” of either “Can Pay One Period Ahead” or “Can Pay Ahead” on the General Information screen of the loan category configuration.

Mary Member, a member at ABC Credit Union. could pay ahead on her loan and never pay the fine until she reaches the maximum number of payments she can pay ahead. For example, if she is allowed to pay one payment ahead, and it is December, she will not pay the fine until she completes the January payment. If the loan is configured for unlimited payment, then Mary would not be required to pay the fines until the end of the loan.
  • NOTE: Because ABC Credit Union placed their fines in the last position, this scenario will occur even if they check “Include delq fine in partial pay” on the General Information screen of the loan category.  The member can still pay ahead and avoid payment of the fine.
