If I use the Channel Activity by Member Age Group dashboard (Tool #200) and choose the ATM/Debit (PIN) Processing and Debit (Signature) Processing channels, how is the data gathered?
This tool gathers data from a summary table called MATRXSUM. This summary table is created each month from data in TRANS1, TRANS2, and TRANS3. It simply counts all transactions based on their transaction Origin Code (TRORIG). So if you selected those two channels you'd see a count of all transaction records with an Origin code of 13 (for ATM/PIN activity) or 16 (for debit/signature activity).

What data tables can I search to see information about where and when attempts are made to login to a member's online banking account?
There is a table called MBRAPPSTAT which holds records of various API calls done during the entire member authentication process, even before they have successfully logged in to online banking (even if through the mobile app). That is the first place TO look to see records of what's happening with this member's account as they step through that process. There is one row for each API call, and each API call represents a different phase of the process. For example - Get Username, Get Chall More...

I have a member who did not receive a statement for the last statement period, but they did have activity. What would cause this?
The ability to manage when a member qualifies for a statement is dependent upon the values in a file that holds the sequence number and statement date of a member's transaction history records. If this sequence number gets out of synch with the numbers assigned to each record, the statement processing may not include transactions that should be included. This happens very rarely, but we have seen it on occasion over the years. CU*Answers Client Support staff can update this file, but the More...

If I activate Statement Style Fees, what happens on a month when a member gets only their credit card statement and not a regular account statement too?
Printed Statement Style fees are triggered only by production of a regular account statement (based on a file called STPRINT01, which is generated only with regular statements, not CC statements) . If a member gets only a credit card statement, they wouldn’t get a fee that particular month. If the next month they get both a credit card statement and a regular statement, then they would get a fee that time. (Note: We do always produce a year-end statement for every member, no matter wha More...

When looking at the ATM/Debit Activity screen, what is the Process Code and how does it affect how member's transaction is being processed on CU*BASE?
The Process Code or PROC CODE on this screen refers to which accounts CU*BASE is going to look at to see if we can authorize the transaction or which account we are going to process against when the vendor is sending a completion. It is a 6 digit field and is broken down into 3 sections to determine how CU*BASE should process the transaction. First is an explanation of how this 6 digit code is broken down and what each segment refers to: OO FF TT in this example the first two digits would More...

Do I have to activate online banking and audio response automatically for all my new members?
No, you do not have to automatically activate OLB or ARU for new memberships. Actually, you can default all new memberships to deactivate online banking and/or audio response access until the member specifically requests it. This is highly recommended as it helps to protect members who join the credit union but never get around to using your online tools right away. These accounts may be your most vulnerable since the member hasn't set up a private password or security questions. By deact More...

Is there a way to make sure that a new member I just activated for online banking, actually logs in?
Try using Tool #549 New Member Online Banking Use Report which lets you see trends about how long it takes for new members to try online banking for the first time. Unless your credit union walks new members through this process while they are still in your lobby, this report will help you make sure that when you activate a new member’s access, they actually do try it by logging in. I have to print notices for members who have Opted In as part of Reg. E. How can I monitor our members' activation through "It’s Me 247" to know who to send notices to?
Tool # 518 Members Reg. E Opted In/Out/Undecided is a canned Query that will split your membership by those opted In, then opted out, and finally those undecided. Any maintenance performed on the new Opt In/Opt Out flags that are within the membership and sub accounts write out to file MASTRL in FILExx, which can be queried to monitor for activity. We suggest monitoring this daily. Select Records of MTANROPT (Reg E Opt In/Out Flag) equal to ‘I’, and MTANROPTDT (Reg E Opt In/Out E More...

We are in the process of creating a procedure in the case of a security breach in which we might need to have all members change their online banking passwords. Is there a way to configure the system to force a password change every 6 months or 12 months (even if the account is active)?
Tool #569 Online/Mobile/Text Banking VMS Config > Online Banking Password and Security Settings includes a setting labeled Expire stale passwords after xxx days of non-use . This means if a member does not log in within that period of time, they must answer all of their security questions in order to reactivate or change their password, before they can log in. The maximum allowed is 90 days, so a value 6 or 12 months is not currently allowed. Remember that this process expires the passwo More...

I have members who are charged as an Active bill pay member, but iPay does not have a record of this account. How does this happen?

A member is trying to log in to online banking and they see this message: "Online access for this account has been disabled. Please contact the Credit union to reset your password." What should I do?
What This Message Means: This appears when the member has tried 3 times to enter their password incorrectly. The message does instruct the member to click I forgot my password and answer all three Security Questions to reset the password themselves. But if the member doesn't know their password or their security questions, they will need to contact the CU. BE CAREFUL: This is a scenario that presents the most risk to your members. My member gets a Social Security (SSA) deposit via ACH. We use an ACH distribution to pay the member’s loan payment, but the loan payment was not made. Why did this happen and what benefits are there to using an Automated Funds Transfer (AFT) instead?
Prior to the 16.10 release, the SSA began using multiple Company IDs, and it was recommended that credit unions consider using Automated Funds Transfers (AFTs) to handle distributions. Beginning the 16.10 release a new cross-reference system will be implemented that will automatically funnel all incoming company IDs from the Social Security Administration and treat them as if they came from one, consistent company ID we’re referring to as the “Primary ID.” With the changes ma More...

One of our members reported not being able to use a shared branching location with an error message saying invalid account. We verified that the membership is active. Why did they receive this message?
This particular issue arose due to N\A being listed in the driver's license and code word fields. With these indicators, the program is getting confused because \ is seen as a field separator rather than a text option in the field and is causing the program to read the fields incorrectly. This is why the account was being listed as invalid. These fields will need to be updated to include either the actual data or simply be left blank.

Our credit union has been asked to perform a member account verification (audit). What are the procedures for this process?
At some point during the year your credit union's audit firm may contact your credit union to perform a member account verification. This involves sending statements with a special message and unique return address, so that members respond to the auditing firm rather than the credit union directly. Here are some important tips to ensure your audit is successful: CU*Answers cannot change your credit union's return addresses on statements. CU*Answers uses custom statement envelopes for a More...
