Why does my credit union need Station Control for CBX?
As we transition from CU*BASE GOLD to CBX, we are shifting from an application that runs directly on a workstation to a more modern, browser-based solution. Previously, CU*BASE GOLD relied on command-line arguments and local temporary files to interact with multiple applications. This approach is not sustainable for the future, as web browsers lack the capability to execute command-line requests and require called applications to be installed and registered on the system. To address this limitat More...

What is the best way to set up a trust account on CU*BASE?
Trust accounts can be set up as either individual or organizational depending on the legal nature of the trust. Following are recommendations for handling situations when a member wants to set up a membership where the primary member and the first joint owner are, in essence, the same person. This happens most often for trust accounts. Currently in CU*BASE there are two ways to handle trusts: For trusts that use a person’s SSN (where you do not have a separate TIN for the trust), set up th More...

How Does GOLD/CBX Connectivity with Carrier Grade NATs (Starlink/Cellular 4G/Cellular 5G) or Dynamic IPs (DSL, P2P Wireless, Lower Tier ISPs) work?
All VPN data connections directly to your data processor (CU*Answers, CU*Northwest, CU*South, etc.) should be anchored by a stable internet service provider (ISP) with a static IP. Outlier branches that receive CBX/GOLD connectivity through a primary or secondary location (which has a static IP and VPN tunnel back to the data processor) can leverage Dynamic DNS, Dialup VPN IPSEC, and SD-WAN with multiple ISPs to form more stable connections back to the data processors using their primary/seconda More...

What's the best way to create a custodial account on CU*BASE?
In the case of a custodial membership for a child and parent, the correct procedure is to open the membership in the child’s name and SSN, then put the parent’s SSN as the joint owner. NOTE: It is not possible for the joint owner name to state “As Custodian” instead of just the parent’s name. Because of the way joint owners are simply links between two member/non-member records in CU*BASE, a change to the joint owner name in this case would actually change the par More...

Why does CU*Answers charge a monthly fee for running service charge programs we configure ourselves in CU*BASE?
There are two primary reasons we charge this fee: Our belief that we should do our best to keep our fees down when credit unions do not earn. This is why, for example, It's Me 247 mobile web is offered free to our credit unions. It's also behind our constant pressure to reduce fees where CUs have no basis or belief they can charge for a defensive, relationship service. Charging for these services in this manner fund other areas where the direct expenses cannot easily be identified wi More...
