I have activated the Flex Loans feature. When my member adjusts their term online, they are not seeing all available terms as expected. Why could this be the case?
Flex Loans allows members in It’s Me 247 to request a change in the term of their loan which results in a payment change. This is permitted on configured products with monthly payment frequencies. The loan modification request can be immediate if the member is qualified and your credit union activates auto approvals. Otherwise, the member’s request is sent to the LOS loan queue (Tool #2) to be approved or denied by your loan officer. While using the Flex Loans feature online, membe More...

Can I add account number and password fields to my website to log directly into online banking, bypassing the OBC login screens?
You can use our Direct Login widget to place a Username field on your website to begin the login process. In order to meet program requirements, we need to put a TurboTax banner in our online banking login page. Any suggestions?
Since your credit union's website can be the online banking login page, by putting either a budget or the direct login widget on the page, we suggest you place the TurboTax banner on your credit union's website. Since the OBC is a shared resource, we do not have the ability to add custom banners on the OBC. (Xtend does do custom Member Reach messages on the OBC page, but that would only allow for text, no images.) Likewise, because It's Me 247 online banking is a shared resource, More...

A member forgot his username for online banking. How can I help him?
To see the member's username, go into Member Inquiry or Phone Operator and click the Online Banking button. Then click the Display Username button. Just like if a member forgot their account number, you'll want to follow your normal procedures for verifying the person's identity before disclosing the username. Or if you wish, you can clear the username entirely by choosing the option to change the member's password Tool #14 Member Personal Banker. Then use the Display Usern More...

What special characters are allowed in online banking passwords, security question answers, and personalized security questions? Which ones are not allowed?
For an additional level of security or to fulfill complex password requirements, members may add special characters to their passwords. They may also add special characters to their security question answers. Some members may even use the feature that allows them to create their own security question, and they may elect to include special characters in that as well (for example a question mark). Allowed special characters are listed below. Some characters have special significance to certain More...

A member is trying to log in to online banking and they see this message: "Online access for this account has been disabled. Please contact the Credit union to reset your password." What should I do?
What This Message Means: This appears when the member has tried 3 times to enter their password incorrectly. The message does instruct the member to click I forgot my password and answer all three Security Questions to reset the password themselves. But if the member doesn't know their password or their security questions, they will need to contact the CU. BE CAREFUL: This is a scenario that presents the most risk to your members. If I activate a new online banking feature in CU*BASE, will a link to that feature automatically appear in the new online banking navigation, or do I also need to have that added to a menu within "It's Me 247"?
Well, it's a little of both, actually. If you activate something that’s optional in CU*BASE but there is not a corresponding link to that from somewhere in your master navigation, then members won’t be able to get to it. As an example, take the overdraft services feature, where members can change their Reg E opt in/out choice online. If you do not have a link to this in online banking from either the mega menu, on a clickable ad, or on a widget bar, then even if you activate i More...

We are thinking of activating the new See and Jump features for online banking. Can you explain the thinking behind the security, and why only an account owner can have this access?
IMPORTANT NOTE: With the new look for It’s Me 247 being released during 2021, the “See” option shown on here is temporarily unavailable. Members who had See-only access previously configured will no longer have access. Jump, however, is still available. There are two major points to consider when thinking about allowing members to see information beyond the account to which they are actually logged in. Both extend beyond online banking to consider a financial institution&rs More...

My member cannot log in to online banking or has to change their password every time they log in to online banking. What is causing this?
There are several common reasons for this issue. The following questions may help uncover your member’s problem: Is the member's password slightly different than what they remember? A member may accidentally type a different password than the one that was used when they set up their password. Is the member typing their password with capital and lower case letters? Your member may not realize that passwords are case-sensitive. This is different from usernames and security question an More...

Does CU*Answers support integrations such as mint.com that pull in financial information if the member supplies their user ID and password?
There is nothing CU*Answers can do to stop financial aggregation services like Mint from accessing our online banking products. Although we have set up many direct integration tools over the years (see the related links), members can also provide their credentials to whomever they choose and the process is entirely in the hands of that third party to maintain the connectivity. Can a CSR reset my employee ID password?
No, our CSRs will not reset the 2-character CU*BASE Employee IDs for your staff. This must be done by an internal CU security officer. Use Tool #762 Reset Employee ID Password . (This can also be done via Tool #327 CU*BASE Employee Security using the Reset PW option.) It is important that credit unions insure proper training to their employees regarding the expiration of their CU*BASE Employee ID password. We deliver a warning message of expiration 7 business days prior to the staff member. More...

Do I have to activate online banking and audio response automatically for all my new members?
No, actually you can default all new memberships to deactivate online banking and/or audio response access until the member specifically requests it. This is highly recommended as it helps to protect members who join the credit union but never get around to using your online tools right away. These accounts may be your most vulnerable since the member hasn't set up a private password or security questions. By deactivating them as a default, you can give them a little extra protection from More...

There is a credit union-level on/off flag where you can disable auto-security as an option for ALL of your employees. To access this, launch Tool #327 Employee Security and use the CU Options button. If auto-security is enabled, anyone can choose to activate it if they wish, either manually by clicking the button at the bottom of the home page, or via their Preferences. What is iShield Security?
There are many, many components in the infrastructure that protects your member data, from passwords and daily backups to production redundancy and full-blown DR/BR plans. One important piece of that puzzle involves the protections we put in place to control data moving between the System i and a local workstation. Years ago no one ever imagined an employee popping a thousand member records onto a thumb drive and heading out the door. Today we have entire teams and sophisticated tools to prev More...

If I want to give someone else access to my PC so they can take over my teller workstation for the rest of the day, can I just turn off auto-security and have them reactivate it themselves, or do I have to log off?
Deactivating auto-security then reactivating it does require you to enter a different employee ID. After a password is entered to reactivate auto-security under that ID, the screen will refresh the tools display to show which ones can be accessed and which cannot. However, it doesn't necessarily refresh all of that employee's other preferences such as color theme or tool set (Favorites vs. All My Tools). Therefore it's best to just log off and have the next user log in to complete More...

What options are available for who controls setup and access to "BizLink 247" business banking?
There are three options available for setting up users, assigning permissions and resetting passwords in BizLink 247 (formerly It's My Biz 247 ): Scenario A: Company controls access to BizLink 247 and PIB-MLO (credit union still can support) If the company elects to use PIB-MLO, your credit union will only need to set up an initial administrator user in CU*BASE. We are in the process of creating a procedure in the case of a security breach in which we might need to have all members change their online banking passwords. Is there a way to configure the system to force a password change every 6 months or 12 months (even if the account is active)?
Tool #569 Online/Mobile/Text Banking VMS Config > Online Banking Password and Security Settings includes a setting labeled Expire stale passwords after xxx days of non-use . This means if a member does not log in within that period of time, they must answer all of their security questions in order to reactivate or change their password, before they can log in. The maximum allowed is 90 days, so a value 6 or 12 months is not currently allowed. Remember that this process expires the passwo More...

For security reasons, I like to lock out members from using online banking until they actually want to use it. But with non-use expiration and automatic deactivation features turned on, how do I run any sort of online banking promotion?
If you: A) automatically deactivate online banking access for all new members, and B) expire online banking passwords due to non-use after 90 days, then how do you run an online banking promotion? After all, sending a marketing piece to members won't do any good if they're disabled or locked out from logging in. Of course you could have them call the credit union to get set up, but here's another idea: Set up a special promotional period! Pick a date to start your campaign. Advert More...

Is PIB the same as multi-factor authentication?
No. PIB is a layered security solution , which is one of the three methods recommended by the NCUA to comply with the “Guidance on Authentication in Internet Banking Environment” (letter 05-CU-18). Remember that you only need to select one of the three available methods. (The other two methods are multi-factor authentication, and “other controls,” the NCUA’s way of allowing for technology that doesn’t even exist yet.) Although the term “multi-factor More...
