What features does Xpress Teller have that Standard Teller does not have? What are the key benefits for moving to Xpress Teller?
Xpress Teller introduces a new, separate teller processing platform to CU*BASE, designed to streamline and simplify the teller experience, offering an alternative that was built with today’s changing credit union lobbies in mind. Xpress Teller includes these exciting new features: Improved Search in Xpress Teller The first screen has a powerful and easy-to-use new search engine that gives tellers a single input field to enter any data about the member and look for that data across dozens More...

The report you are looking for in CU*Spy is the LTLAU2: Teller Closing Transaction Audit Report. You can also access the teller audit via Tool #33 Teller Drawer Control/Inquiry. Select the 2-digit employee ID and choose a vault. I have tellers that work at two different branches. How do I set them up so that they can activate their teller drawer and access the correct vault depending on the branch they are working at?
We call this process “Roving Teller.” First give the teller access to the appropriate vaults in their employee profile (see below). Then when the teller activates his or her drawer via Tool #1 Teller Line Posting , the appropriate vault for the branch where the teller is working will be selected automatically. ( Tool #1600 Xpress Teller will do the same thing, but activation is done behind the scenes automatically.) NOTE: If the teller activates their drawer through Tool #33 Tel More...

Xpress Teller activates the drawer automatically. How do you update your totals when you purchase funds from the vault? Where do you update totals for specific denominations? What is the process for balancing?
The only thing different in Xpress Teller is we save you from having to do the following steps: Enter your ID/password Press Drawer Control/Audit (F24) and then Activate (F1). (A “You’re activating at branch...” window appears just on your first time in that day.) Everything else about the teller drawer control is the same, and in fact, both teller systems share the same drawer behind the scenes.

Why does CU*BASE require two steps to perform a teller correction - deleting an audit key and completing a member transaction reversal?
Because of CU*BASE design to integrate directly to the general ledger is one of its most impressive features, the teller system needs to process as its own section. In order to discourage inaccurate or misleading transaction reversals or back-dating, the dual system segreates the teller drawer (cash) from the member transactions and balances. If the two steps are not completed correctly, the general ledger will be out of balance. Fortunately you can use Tool #31 Reverse Tran/Adjust Drawer (Same More...

Can a workstation be set up to use both Xpress Teller and Standard Teller?
Yes, a workstation can be set up to use both teller platforms. Access to Xpress Teller is not based on workstation, but is simply a tool to which an employee ID can be assigned. Both Standard and Xpress Teller will attach to the same teller drawer for that employee based on that employee's workstation branch.

When looking at the ATM/Debit or Credit Card Activity screen, what does the indicator in the Type and Transaction Description mean?
The fields are related to Process Codes, in that they are derived from the code attached to the message received from the plastics processor (vendor, or switch). The Type you see in the initial Type column of the Activity screen relates directly to the Transaction Description when you view additional transaction details. Transaction types may not apply to all vendors. Examples of these labels are as follows: DEP (Deposit Transactions) ATM/DEP A deposit made at an ATM. ATM/DEP - including a $ More...

Will a Teller Override for a frozen account affect all types of transactions, or just teller transactions?
As a general rule of thumb, the Teller Override feature is intended to override a single transaction performed manually by a credit union employee. There may be exceptions but the intention is that batch programs which automate the posting of multiple transactions do NOT obey overrides for frozen accounts. For example, neither share draft posting nor ACH posting programs will obey the override flag (in other words, they will not post to a frozen account).

We have non-members who want to cash checks in our lobby but instead of receiving cash back, they want an official credit union check for a better paper trail. Can this be done using non-member teller processing?
Yes, by making use of both a Misc. Receipts and a Misc. Expense posting code, so that you can put the funds temporarily into a G/L then issue a check from that same G/L. Here are the key steps: First, configure two posting codes, using Tool # 534 Misc. Posting Codes Configuration. For the first one, choose the Receipts type and set up a code that will allow you to place funds into a G/L account. For the second one, choose the Expenses/Advances type and set up a code that will allow you to More...

What is a "left-to-right" teller error?
If you have looked at the teller audit report (LTLAU2), each section has two totals. One is on the left and one is on the right . Normally, these two totals equal each other. However, there are times when normal processing is interrupted and each total is not updated correctly, causing a left-to-right error. Sometimes these can be fixed in the current day. Other times, the general ledger or teller drawer may need to be adjusted the next business day.

I see that Xpress Teller (Tool #1600) displays just the member name, birthday, gender, code word, and wrong email/address warnings. I don't see additional member information, such as address, phone number, etc. Is this by design?
Yes, Xpress Teller (Tool #1600) is intentionally designed with the idea that the picture ID is your main form of identification. This teller platform is for credit unions who are aggressive about getting photo IDs! The screen shows just enough for the teller to be able to check they have the right ID. The wrong email and address warnings are configurable in the Xpress Teller workflow controls (Tool #1775). You can also choose which of the other data points are displayed (for example, you ca More...

Can some of my tellers use Xpress Teller (Tool #1600) and some use Standard Teller (Tool #1)?
Yes, it is possible for an employee to use both teller platforms (Tool #1600 and Tool #1) if both tools are assigned to their employee profile. This allows you to roll the Xpress Teller platform out gradually, maybe assigning Xpress Teller to head tellers to start the rollout. For the most part, however, an employee would elect to use one tellering platform.

Is it true that I don't have to activate my teller drawer with Xpress Teller?
To be precise, you do still need to activate, but Xpress Teller will do it for you automatically, behind the scenes! When you launch Tool #1600 Xpress Teller from the home page, the system will look at the branch on your current workstation, and if you aren't already activated in that drawer, you'll be activated automatically. A couple of things to keep in mind: If you aren't authorized to that branch in your employee profile, an error message will appear and you won't be able More...

I'm putting a hold on a check at the teller line, but what if I want to deposit the check into two different accounts?
The hold days and account type fields are used to give CU*BASE instructions on how to place a hold. All CU*BASE does is create an Uncollected Funds record for that amount, for that # of days, on that particular sub-account . If you deposit the money into multiple accounts, the hold still gets placed on that one account, so just be aware of what that will do to the member's available balance on that account!

I'd rather not have to go to separate screens for outside checks and in-house checks. Can't you add just a few of those fields to the main teller screen?
Well, the short answer is no. When we designed the teller screens, it was about more than just aesthetics. The new configurable check holds are very flexible and require complex calculations that must be done in a systematic way in order to set the proper holds. The only efficient and effective way to accomplish this is via a separate screen that contains all of the appropriate fields, warning messages, and calculations. (And besides, even if we could find a way to do it, how many fields is More...

We have a former teller whose drawer still has cash in it in the system. We have already archived their two digit ID. How do we get the cash out of her drawer?
This situation no longer occurs. Now you cannot archive a teller ID when there is money in the drawer. However, before the enhancement was implemented, this could have occurred. If this was done before the implementation of the warning that stops the archival, there's an easy fix: temporarily recreate the archived ID, sell the cash back to the vault, and then delete that temporary ID. First, take a look at the old ID so you can recreate a temporary one with the same settings: Launch Tool #3 More...
