Can I add debit and credit entries to a Journal Entry batch after it's been posted?
Yes, by posting a separate new batch but using the exact same identifiers as the previously posted batch, for all of these four items: Corp ID Effective Posting Date J/E ID J/E ID # Once you post your new entries, the system will automatically reassign the debit and credit sequence numbers from 01 to the next available unused sequence number in the existing batch. To prevent this from happening (i.e., if you want each batch posted to be separate for later research purposes), make sure that at More...

If I use Account Maintenance to update a Dividend Application and the corresponding general ledger number, will a journal entry be automatically posted for the principal balance (and any accrued dividends) of the member account?
Yes, the general ledger entry will post automatically in end-of-day processing. Account Maintenance can be used to change the dividend application for member accounts based on the product parameters. For example, a Student Checking may have an age maximum at which point the checking account may need to move the credit union's regular checking product offering. If the Dividend Application configuration have the same suffix range, there is no need to order new checks, change any ACH or Payroll More...

How do I post a share draft stop payment fee if the fee will take the account negative?
Currently, a stop payment fee cannot be configured to take an account negative. Therefore, if it will result in a negative balance, the system will NOT automatically post it. Go ahead and place the stop pay order as usual, choosing 'No' in the Charge for Stop Payment field. Then perform a separate Member Account Adjustment entry that debits the member account and offsets the stop pay fee income G/L.

When underwriting an indirect/dealer loan application, does the Centralized Underwriting code “Refer to Manager” send a notification to the dealership via our CU*BASE Integration? If so, does the notification include the application notes from the loan application?
The credit union can pass any underwriting code that's configured as a Approval or Denial code type. So if your credit union has underwriting codes of AI for Approved Indirect and DI for Denied indirect, those will both pass a status of approved/denied as long as they are configured correctly. The only code we standardized is the CO for Counter Offer. This is the only memo type code that can be passed for indirect. Any other memo codes would not trigger a notification to the dealer. What situations affect the near-immediate posting of a remote deposit capture (RDC) check if I use RDC-IQ?
The posting of items will be delayed for the following reasons: The item fails your credit union’s business rules or has holds placed on items from your Automated Deposit Holds and Electronic Deposit Holds configurations. (These rules are also followed by RDC-IQ.) Your credit union is currently being processed through end-of-day or beginning-of-day. We are interested in using RDC-IQ and are currently using a vendor other than eDOC Innovations (UrbanFT) for RDC Posting Services (batch posting). Can we move directly to use RDC-IQ with eDOC Innovations as the vendor?
This can be done if you completely close down your program with your existing vendor and do a hard cutover to RDC-IQ. However, depending on the status of your program, you may want to allow your members time to migrate. If you use a vendor other than eDOC Innovations for batch posting (UrbanFT, for example) and want to use RDC-IQ, we recommend that you first migrate to eDOC Innovations and use RDC Posting Services (a batch file process). Once you terminate your program with the former vendor, w More...

What causes a member check to be returned as 'Refer to Maker'?
Previously, credit unions used Code 38 for “Return to Maker”, but this code is no longer available in the system. This change was initiated by a Reg CC change in 2018. Now, if you are presented with a situation where you need to return a check to another institution, it is recommended that you use one of these codes to clarify the reason for the check return. Some codes allow you to make the change in CU*BASE. Others require that you contact your Check Item Processor. Read below for More...

Can we batch post Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) transactions with more than one vendor?
Yes. CU*Answers currently provides RDC Posting Services (batch posting) for both eDOC Innovations and UrbanFT. These can both be processed simultaneously. This scenario is used when a credit union migrates from one vendor to another. NOTE: Multiple vendors are not supported with RDC-IQ.

A Misc. Receipt Posting code was set up with the "Credit entry location" set to blank, which according to online help means to use the teller branch number. If an active teller posts a MR transaction through Phone Operator, it does not write out to the teller’s branch number. Instead, it writes out to branch 01. Is this how the process should work?
The reason the M/R code is not writing out with the teller's branch number is because it is being done through Phone Operator. Phone Op is actually posting to the member branch regardless of this configuration. The transaction is a bit different than teller because it’s built with a TRANS record with a direct connection to the offset GL rather than a teller audit key with an EOD GL interface for misc receipts. The trans record posts the member branch to both the member and teller bra More...

Does the incoming ACH posting file have to have an OFAC scan performed on the originators in order for the credit union to be compliant?
OFAC is defined in the NACHA Operating Rules and Guidelines Chapter 3, Section 1 pages OG15-OG21. There is a difference between OFAC procedures for ACH transactions and the verification of parties with which a financial institution does business. For ACH purposes, only the addenda information on cross border transactions (IATs) require an OFAC scan for both RDFIs (receiving depository financial institutions) and ODFIs (outgoing depository financial institutions). I have a husband and wife who both receive Social Security payments to the same membership. Now that CU*BASE uses the new way of handling ACH transactions from the SSA, these are causing duplicate distributions to be posted. What should I do if my members still wish for them to be separate transactions?
With the 16.10 release a new cross-reference system was implemented that automatically funnels all incoming company IDs from the Social Security Administration and treat them as if they came from one, consistent company ID we’re referring to as the “Primary ID.” In cases where the Depositor ID is the same, for example a husband and wife, these ACH transactions will be handled by the same master ACH distribution record under the Depositor ID since duplicate Depositor IDs are no More...
