In CU*Spy on the End of Month tab I don’t see reports that I manually pulled and sent to MONTHxx. Is this only showing the automated reports?
Reports are categorized in CU*Spy according to the type of report, not the output queue to which they were printed. If a particular on-demand report also happens to be set up for Monthly Automation via the Report Scheduler, even if it is scheduled to print to the MONTHxx OUTQ it will still go to the same category in CU*Spy as always, not to the End of Month tab. Hint: When you are checking your automated reports to make sure they all ran, rather than try to remember where they normally get place More...

I haven't been using Tool #360 "End of Month Processing" to close my G/L and would like to start. Does it matter what month I start with?
No, you can start with the most recent month you consider your books to be closed and no longer need to be able to post entries to that month. (You don't need to run it multiple times for multiple months to catch up. )

In CU*Spy on the End of Month tab it looks like the LCLMBE Closed Member Report and LCLACE Member Closed Account Report are getting pulled every day. But on the Report Automation Tools Standard Reports feature (Tool #759 Report Automation - Standard Reports) it says MONTHLY.
The Closed Account Report and the Closed Membership Report have two versions. LCLACE and LCLMBE are the daily reports that run at EOD. These reports show closed accounts and closed memberships for a single day. LCLAC and LCLMB are the reports that are run from the CU*BASE menu and via Report Automation, and these show closed accounts and closed memberships for a given month.

I have an online credit card loan account where the balance from the previous month end was paid in full by the payment due date, yet the member still incurred a finance charge. Why?
Credit card finance charges can be confusing as they are different from a normal simple daily interest consumer loan, because billing cycles play a part in the finance charge calculation. Both current and previous billing cycles are required for the calculation to qualify for a configured grace period. Grace period flags are determined by the credit union and disclosed in their credit card disclosures. Finance charges are waived if the account qualifies for the grace period configured in the loa More...

Should I review my automated report settings before the end of the month?
Yes! We want to stress that this is not a save it and forget it process. It is important that you review your settings before the end of the month. You may decide to adjust them slightly, or select to remove them from the automation process. Additionally, you should check to make sure that no one accidentally deleted your settings.

When looking at the ATM/Debit or Credit Card Activity screen, what does the indicator in the Type and Transaction Description mean?
The fields are related to Process Codes, in that they are derived from the code attached to the message received from the plastics processor (vendor, or switch). The Type you see in the initial Type column of the Activity screen relates directly to the Transaction Description when you view additional transaction details. Transaction types may not apply to all vendors. Examples of these labels are as follows: DEP (Deposit Transactions) ATM/DEP A deposit made at an ATM. ATM/DEP - including a $ More...

My member qualifies based on our statement configurations for a Quarterly statement. The member wishes to receive a monthly statement. Is there a way that we can accommodate that member's request to receive a statement every month?
Use of the Force Monthly Statement' option on the member's MASTER record will allow for member to receive a monthly statement instead of the quarterly/annual statement they may qualify for based on your overall statement configuration settings. Remember that this is intended to be used only in rare occasions where there are exceptions to your rules. If you find that your staff is setting this flag on frequently, you might need to (a) revisit your general configuration settings or (b) More...

I have members whose records indicate a large number of logins to online banking per month. The member indicates that they do not login to online banking so many times. Is there an explanation for this?
Members need to remember that when they provide their online banking login credentials to financial aggregation software (Quicken, Mint, Yodlee, etc.) these programs login to online banking in order to retrieve their information. As a result, each time they refresh their data through this software will result in a login being recorded by our online banking software.

How do I set up a loan so that the payment is due on the last day of the month, and automatically changes according to the number of days in each month?
When setting up the loan request, enter a First payment date that is the appropriate month-end date. For example, if creating a loan request on August 25, you would specify that the first payment is due on September 30. Then enter a 31 into the Payment day field. This will trigger the system always to use the last day of any given month going forward (31, or 30, or 28 or 29 for February). To adjust this on new loan requests going forward, set the Day of first payment as 31 using Tool #470 Loa More...

I'd like a monthly report to be printed and archived automatically every month, using the new Report Scheduler feature. How do I get it to do both?
By creating two separate settings that you save - each with a different printer ID, both set to monthly automation. Each one will cause the report to be generated and directed to the printer ID that was specified when you saved the settings. *NOTE: Online CUs may already have a saved settings record called CUA MONTHLY ARCHIVE which sends the report to the MONTHxx printer for archiving. So if you also wanted a printed copy of that same report, you would need to save your own settings under a More...

How many end-of-month (EOM) files does CU*BASE retain for online clients to access without assistance from operations? I use this especially with dashboards and reports.
CU*BASE retains six end-of-month files for online credit unions to access without assistance from operations. For example, in September, you would be able to access data on not only the current (September) and previous month (August), but you will also be able to run reports on the four prior end-of-month files (April, May, June, and July) as well.

My member gets a Social Security (SSA) deposit via ACH. We use an ACH distribution to pay the member’s loan payment, but the loan payment was not made. Why did this happen and what benefits are there to using an Automated Funds Transfer (AFT) instead?
Prior to the 16.10 release, the SSA began using multiple Company IDs, and it was recommended that credit unions consider using Automated Funds Transfers (AFTs) to handle distributions. Beginning the 16.10 release a new cross-reference system will be implemented that will automatically funnel all incoming company IDs from the Social Security Administration and treat them as if they came from one, consistent company ID we’re referring to as the “Primary ID.” With the changes ma More...

You need to delete the item and then re-add it. The Subsidiary Type is not a field that can be maintained after the item was created.

Simply put, it is a way for your members to continue using interactive services such as audio response and online banking, ATM/debit cards, and online credit cards for their financial needs, even while CU*BASE is off line for normal daily or monthly processing. When reviewing the bill pay transaction register, the 2nd page lists fee exceptions. When the exception reads, "Monthly fee would take account below available balance," I would like to know if the fee attempt only happens once or continuously until the fee is collected.
Bill Pay fees post around the 11th of the month. The fee posting will only attempt once. An idea is to use this exception report and manually post fees if needed. Something to keep in mind: even if the member has Overdraft Protection, it may still give the exception listed above because Overdraft Protection does not cover fees.

Are there ever situations where a member would get a credit card statement but not a regular member account statement in the same month?
It's possible but fairly rare, given how most CUs set up their statement criteria. The two statement types are independent as far as the criteria that determine whether a member gets a statement or not. Typically a CU sets up their regular account statement to look at OC (open credit) accounts, which includes online credit cards, and produce a regular statement if there is any activity. Likewise, a credit card statement is generally set up to produce a CC statement only if there is activi More...

What do the various device and print job statuses on the iSeries mean?
When a device first connects to the iSeries, a virtual device is created - consider it a placeholder for that workstation or printer. Throughout the virtual devices lifecycle, there are several different statuses that device can be in. Read below for some details! What is the difference between Single Premium, Level Rate and Monthly Renewable credit insurance?
All three of these terms describe the manner in which a credit disability premium is calculated for a specific loan. Single Premium - Calculates the premium through a set of rates that correspond to the Original Term of the loan. The premium amount assumes insurance coverage for the full term. This premium is added up front to the loan balance when the loan is created, hence Single Premium . If the loan is paid in full early, the borrower is entitled to a refund for the time between the pay More...

Why does CU*BASE show delinquency in two different ways? In some places it is months/days and others it is actual number of days.
There are two methods used to track delinquent loans for reporting purposes in CU*BASE: Method One (for Collections tracking) We have always tracked delinquency in two separate fields for “Months” and ‘Days” in the member files. When a loan is 30 days delinquent, it shows as “0 Months, 30 Days” delinquent. When a loan is 31 days delinquent, it is “1 Month, 0 Days” delinquent. Will my members receive a mortgage statement every month, even if there is no activity on their accounts?
Yes, since the mortgage statement functions as much like an invoice/bill as is does a statement of account activity. In addition, if a member would not otherwise qualify for a regular statement in a given month, the mortgage statement will still be generated, in order to provide the required information for the member’s mortgage(s). We will adhere to Statement Mail Group code settings as well as existing eStatement enrollments relative to delivery.
