Then, they will want to delete the item from their exception list/file by changing the status of the item from an 'A' (Active) to a 'D' (Delete) - the item will rem More...

When looking at the ATM/Debit or Credit Card Activity screen, what does the indicator in the Type and Transaction Description mean?
The fields are related to Process Codes, in that they are derived from the code attached to the message received from the plastics processor (vendor, or switch). Transaction types may not apply to all vendors. Examples of these labels are as follows: DEP (Deposit Transactions) ATM/DEP A deposit made at an ATM. ATM/DEP - including a $ More...

Previously, credit unions used Code 38 for “Return to Maker”, but this code is no longer available in the system. This change was initiated by a Reg CC change in 2018. Now, if you are presented with a situation where you need to return a check to another institution, it is recommended that you use one of these codes to clarify the reason for the check return. How does a member's account get debited for bills they schedule through "It's Me 247" Bill Pay (Fiserv)?
In one of three ways: Note: The term 'subscriber' refers to your 'member'. Electronic Payments (ACH) - Fiserv's preference is to send all payments electronically. However in the Risk Model format it is not always feasible. Fiserv submits the merchant payment (via the fed) from a Fiserv settlement account the same day we submit the debit (via the fed) to the subscriber account. Fiserv is taking the risk on the payment. Electronic payments are typically sent when the subscr More...

How does Fiserv determine the method by which payments are sent to the biller?
Fiserv evaluates payment direction based on a proprietary algorithm that takes into account many factors. Some evaluation is done at the sponsor level, some at the merchant level, and some at the subscriber level. Sponsor level information determines what check types are acceptable – draft only or draft and corporate. Merchant level information determines the preferred payment method for that payee (electronic or paper) and if the merchant assumes responsibility for returns. Subscriber More...

Can I prevent a member who is not a U.S. Citizen from being included in tax forms and reporting to the IRS?
Members who are not U.S. citizens should have the Foreign citizen or Foreign corporation flag checked on their MASTER membership record. My member gets a Social Security (SSA) deposit via ACH. We use an ACH distribution to pay the member’s loan payment, but the loan payment was not made. Why did this happen and what benefits are there to using an Automated Funds Transfer (AFT) instead?
Prior to the 16.10 release, the SSA began using multiple Company IDs, and it was recommended that credit unions consider using Automated Funds Transfers (AFTs) to handle distributions. Beginning the 16.10 release a new cross-reference system will be implemented that will automatically funnel all incoming company IDs from the Social Security Administration and treat them as if they came from one, consistent company ID we’re referring to as the “Primary ID.” With the changes ma More...

Why does CU*BASE show delinquency in two different ways? In some places it is months/days and others it is actual number of days.
There are two methods used to track delinquent loans for reporting purposes in CU*BASE: Method One (for Collections tracking) We have always tracked delinquency in two separate fields for “Months” and ‘Days” in the member files. When a loan is 30 days delinquent, it shows as “0 Months, 30 Days” delinquent. When a loan is 31 days delinquent, it is “1 Month, 0 Days” delinquent. The biller claims they never received a payment, however the check was cashed. When the member receives the check copy, and it was not signed by the biller, what is the next step to getting the money back for our member?
When you get the check copy and verify beyond a doubt that it was not the intended biller who cashed the check, re-open the case with Fiserv. Explain that the check was wrongfully deposited, explain your verification processes, and ask for Fiserv's assistance with a refund to the member. They will contact the Federal Reserve and work to get the money back. This can only be done with a Corporate Check. I am receiving a system message "trying to write duplicate record to AXHIST file" when processing accounts payable vouchers. What is happening and how can this be prevented?
The system uses a consecutive voucher number which gets changed to a check number when the check is actually printed. At the time the voucher is created a record gets written to the Accounts Payables vendor history. If the voucher number matches another history item with the same number, the error message is generated. Typically the problem occurs when a check number from an old vendor history record matches the current voucher number. To get out of the program error message, press Enter to More...

If a member pays a bill and it's processed via a check by iPay, can they see a copy of the cancelled check via online banking, like they can with other checks they write themselves?
It depends in part on whether you are using iPay via an SSO, or if you have switched to the native iPay process that uses the It's Me 247 user interface. Here's a summary of how members can get images of cleared checks, when payments are made via check: Today in the SSO environment (referred to simply as iPay Bill Pay): If iPay send a member draft for the member, then the check will clear the member's account and be visible to them just as if they wrote the check themselves.
