If we decided to use the new "Switch LOC" feature announced in the 19.05 CU*BASE Release so that its switches Interest-Only Loans to Principal/Interest Loans, how will we monitor which loans get switched?
Please monitor the PLNI2P reports that are sent to CU*Spy daily. There is one report to show you all loans that have switched from Interest Only to Principal Interest (P I) and one exception report.

If I switch to the Vertical receipt format, can I switch back to the old format if I want?
Technically, yes, but you will need to go through a similar process as you went through to move to vertical receipts in the first place, including scheduling an after-hours conversion with someone available at every branch to perform testing. Remember that all of your printers must use the same receipt format, so if you decide to switch back, ALL of your receipts at every branch will go back to the old format. NOTE: A date has not yet been determined, but it is likely that at some point down th More...

My ATM/DEBIT switch is CO-OP. What does the "MSG TYPE" values mean on my LC01TXN report?
The MSG TYPE values describe types of 'authorizations' and 'transactions' processed through the CO-OP network. Authorizations: (100 110 120 130) For PIN Authorizations there is no hold on the member's funds. However, Signature Authorizations place a hold, CU*BASE shows this as a debit authorization comment in OTB processing. In either case this transaction is not posted to the members account. This is just a POS (point of sale) authorization for the merchant. It could be e More...

Why is the system making our LOC loan balances past due when they go past the maturity date?
The next due date cannot be greater than the maturity date. When processing delinquency at end of day, the system compares the maturity date and the next due date. If the next due date is greater than the maturity date, then the next due date is replaced with the maturity date and partial pay is zeroed out. Since both the next due date and maturity date are in the past the total current balance becomes delinquent. Each month it is recommended that the loan department review the loans that will More...

When looking at the ATM/Debit or Credit Card Activity screen, what does the indicator in the Type and Transaction Description mean?
The fields are related to Process Codes, in that they are derived from the code attached to the message received from the plastics processor (vendor, or switch). The Type you see in the initial Type column of the Activity screen relates directly to the Transaction Description when you view additional transaction details. Transaction types may not apply to all vendors. Examples of these labels are as follows: DEP (Deposit Transactions) ATM/DEP A deposit made at an ATM. ATM/DEP - including a $ More...

How can I find out where my members have loans, credit cards, or LOCs at other financial institutions?
If you pull credit reports using the CU*BASE online credit bureau access system, credit report data is stored online and can therefore be mined for opportunities. There are a couple of ways you can find this information: Use Tool #976 Where Your Members Borrow This tool pulls trade line data from stored credit report files, showing other financial institutions with whom your members do business. This tool lets you make a direct comparison between your credit union and a competitive FI. F More...

After I switch to vertical receipts, can I still reprint receipts that I had printed previously in the horizontal format?
Yes, but the receipt will reprint using a vertical format (receipt printers cannot go back and forth between orientations). Parts of the receipt may not look exactly the same as the receipts you are printing now, since we are recording data a little differently specifically for vertical receipts. But we’ll print what we can based on what was stored back when that transaction was posted.

My member set up a one-time AFT transfer to an LOC via online banking. The payment was made but the normal payment change didn't seem to happen, like it does when you do a normal transfer to this same LOC. What happened?
This can happen in rare circumstances based on when the AFT process happens to run overnight. Part of the routine to determine whether a new payment should be calculated is based on a comparison between the last disbursement date and the actual date (to determine if the disbursement happened today). This particular routine reads the system (calendar) date, not the business (activity or processing) date. If the business date hasn't changed yet but it's after midnight local time, when the More...

Since the "See" feature is not going to be available anymore in the new look, will members who used that automatically be switched to allow "Jump" or will they just not have the feature at all?
We will not be converting any existing members who have only the See feature activated so that they automatically allow Jump for those relationships, but you can make those adjustments yourself as members request that access be reinstated. Use Tool #14 Member Personal Banker then choose See/Jump Relationships . Since we are still considering how to introduce a different type of See functionality in the future, at this point we will not be removing the existing settings from the configurat More...

What are the differences between an online ASP and in-house e-document strategy?
The differences ultimately come down to control and cost. The online ASP system is the fastest, simplest, most inexpensive way to get started with an e-documents strategy for your credit union. With online ASP you offload the back-end service management headaches to CU*Answers. We manage, backup, secure, and patch/upgrade the eDOC servers and databases and these processes fall under our SAS 70 and third party security audits. The online ASP system consists of electronic storage of receipts, loan More...

My credit union likes to review printed notices before they are mailed out to members, but we are also trying to switch people to eNotices. Do you have any tips for how we can still make ourselves aware of what notices are being produced on a daily basis?
From a front-line inquiry standpoint, there’s no better record-keeping option than having people check member Tracker histories. The notice type, date, and contents are easy to look up in tracker history, but prior ones are available to scroll back through as well so you can see context of the individual member’s history with that type of notice, or others. When it comes to the ability for staff to review this data for proactive outreach, such as to see who has delinquent loans an More...

Can you explain how the system secures funds for debit card authorizations?
The process can vary a bit according to the vendor, but here's a discussion about how it works for credit unions on the CO-OP network, as an example. In most cases, debit card authorizations create a Misc. Secured Shares record on the member's account to hold the funds. When the actual transaction comes in, this record is automatically deleted. (There are exceptions to this rule, such as gas purchases.) A little history: In the past, debit card authorizations would add a hold to an ind More...

When looking at the ATM/Debit Activity screen, what is the Process Code and how does it affect how member's transaction is being processed on CU*BASE?
The Process Code or PROC CODE on this screen refers to which accounts CU*BASE is going to look at to see if we can authorize the transaction or which account we are going to process against when the vendor is sending a completion. It is a 6 digit field and is broken down into 3 sections to determine how CU*BASE should process the transaction. First is an explanation of how this 6 digit code is broken down and what each segment refers to: OO FF TT in this example the first two digits would More...

What time-frame should I consider when turning on PIB?
Online Banking continue to work just fine whether you decide to activate PIB or not. Yo u should not activate PIB without some careful planning and preparation. You need a plan. A plan to handle the increase in phone calls and frustrated members. A plan to make this part of your process for opening new memberships. More...
