NSF fees a member has been charged. Is there a field that separates the number of NSFs from the number of Courtesy Pay (ANR) items? I do not want to include ANR.
The NSF Statistics Dashboard (Tool #557) will track this information for you automatically. It is separated into the NSF category and the Courtesy Pay Category. Credit unions are using this dashboard to help predict averages of NSF/Courtesy Pay fee income and also to track how many members may be using the service. You can click on any of the origins (listed in blue text) and you can drill further to members who had more than X transactions in a specific month. There are a lot of graphical oppor More...

While reviewing my BSA report I found a cash-back audit key record in the Teller Audit inquiry list without an offsetting transaction. How could that have happened?
This happens rarely, but usually when we see orphaned records like this it's because the employee exited their CU*BASE session improperly in the middle of processing a transaction, either by clicking the close button or due to an unexpected power or communications interruption. For example, once a cash transaction is posted and the CTR screens are presented, the user must proceed; there is no way to back up and cancel the transaction at that point. Some users get desperate and click the More...

What is the best way to calculate a payoff for a mortgage loan which has an interest calculation type of 30/360?
The CU*BASE system does not have an automated method of calculating the payoffs for loans with a 30/360 interest calcuation type. The number of variables relative to the timing of the payoff, interest accrual, and interest calculation methods require that this function be done manually by someone who thouroghly understands the mortgage market. Interim payoffs on 30/360 loans are typically calculated by using the daily interest calculation method. As an example, the member calls on the 5th, More...

My member deposited a large check deposit. How do I release the funds across three hold release dates, according to the Reg CC guidelines? After the initial Reg CC release, I would like to release a set amount after a three-day hold, and the rest after an additional four days. What do I do to configure this in the system?
Your credit union can opt to release funds differently for amounts above a certain dollar amount threshold (such as $5,000), on a single deposit. This affects how all deposit holds are placed, no matter how other channel-specific settings (teller, mail/direct, Remote Deposit Capture (RDC), and ATM) are configured. One place this will not be used is with National Shared Branch (COOP) transactions. For example, if a member deposits a $17,500 check, the system could be instructed to hold the first More...

Well, in PC terms it means to stretch the window in which an application appears so that it completely fills the screen from one edge to the other. A window that is maximized cannot be moved or resized. To maximize, click the button immediately to the left of the close ( X ) button in the upper right corner of the window. (This is a toggle button; click it again to remove the maximize option and return to a normal window that can be moved or sized freely.)

What options does my CU have to be creative with how I charge NSF and ANR (Courtesy Pay) fees?
Here are just a few ideas: Configure an NSF fee to be per item or per day. Most CUs have not approached the per day concept, but it is available to prevent multiple fees from posting to members when multiple items are NSF on the same day. (Find this in Tool #558 NSF/OD Transfer Configuration .) Configure your ANR fee not to be assessed within $x of the member's available balance. Yes, the system runs a special algorithm to verify that it is a valid number. For each of the first 8 digits in the routing number, multiply it by the weight. Add the 8 results together, then substract the last digit of the sum from 10. The result should be equal to the 9th digit of the routing number. Example: Routing number: 6 7 2 4 6 0 7 1 9 Weight: 3 7 1 3 7 1 3 7 More...
