We are interested in learning more about the Automated CTR Upload service. Where do I learn more?
Filing CTRs through the e-filing system can be redundant and time consuming. With the Automated CTR Uploads service, CU*Answers can file the CTRs created on the system electronically! Just save the CTR and set it to “ready to transmit” in CU*BASE. CU*Answers will batch it up with all the others and automatically send it to the Treasury. Click the link below to learn more about this service.

My member gets a Social Security (SSA) deposit via ACH. We use an ACH distribution to pay the member’s loan payment, but the loan payment was not made. Why did this happen and what benefits are there to using an Automated Funds Transfer (AFT) instead?
Prior to the 16.10 release, the SSA began using multiple Company IDs, and it was recommended that credit unions consider using Automated Funds Transfers (AFTs) to handle distributions. Beginning the 16.10 release a new cross-reference system will be implemented that will automatically funnel all incoming company IDs from the Social Security Administration and treat them as if they came from one, consistent company ID we’re referring to as the “Primary ID.” With the changes ma More...

A member did cash transactions in excess of $10,000; however, the CTR form did not pop up in teller processing for the teller to complete the form when the transaction occurred. Why did this not happen? Is it because there were multiple transactions completed at the same time?
The CTR did not populate because the system calculation can combine only those transactions that were posted at the same time. In this particular situation the member had seven deposits within a few minutes of each other where the total amount calculated under his Social Security number exceeded the credit union configured CTR flag amount over $10,000. None of the individual amounts he deposited, however, exceed the $10,000. The total excess of $10,000 calculated placed him on your BSA monitor More...

If I have changed my Social Security (SSA) ACH Deposits to use the Automated Funds Transfer solution, should I now consider changing back to ACH deposits?

In CU*Spy on the End of Month tab it looks like the LCLMBE Closed Member Report and LCLACE Member Closed Account Report are getting pulled every day. But on the Report Automation Tools Standard Reports feature (Tool #759 Report Automation - Standard Reports) it says MONTHLY.
The Closed Account Report and the Closed Membership Report have two versions. LCLACE and LCLMBE are the daily reports that run at EOD. These reports show closed accounts and closed memberships for a single day. LCLAC and LCLMB are the reports that are run from the CU*BASE menu and via Report Automation, and these show closed accounts and closed memberships for a given month.

Can I set up more than one automation routine for a single NCUA account code in the 5300 Call Report software?
Yes! The Call Report software is able to calculate more than one automation routine for the same NCUA account code. This is especially useful for the loan areas of the Call Report when you need to gather information from various codes (purpose, security, category, G/L) for the same NCUA category or if you have off-trial-balance (OTB) loans and in-house loans that fall into the same NCUA category. Each automation routine is set up separately then is automatically added together to provide the More...

What happens when there are insufficient funds for a scheduled recurring Automated Funds Transfer (AFT) when the transfer is to an “off the books” (A2A or OTB) account? What happens when there are insufficient funds for the desired transfer amount?
Starting with the 16.10 release, credit unions can begin allowing AFTs with accounts that are “off the books” including accounts set up with the CU*BASE Account to Account (A2A) and CU*BASE “Off Trial Balance” (OTB) feature. What do I need to do to allow an employee to download or upload data between CU*BASE and their PC?
If you need to allow an employee to perform upload and/or download tasks (FinCEN, AIRES, ALM, uploading G/L entries to post, etc.), you must first complete the iShield Security Access Request form and have it signed by your credit union’s designated Security Officer to sign. Once our Client Services team receives your signed form and verifies it, a request will be submitted to our System i administrators, and you will be notified when the new permissions have been granted. Do not use these instructions if you are performing one of the standard uploads such as to DMPIMPORT, FCBUSINESS, FCPERSON, IMPEMAIL, etc. Instead, look for your appropriate .FDFX companion file in C:\cubase\cubase\resources Instructions below are relevant for projects where you are working to upload data to a custom table destination that meets the following criteria: The table already exists in CU*BASE The table has been used before (has at least 1 row of data in it). I'm trying to upload files for FinCEN according to the doc, and getting an error message when I enter the path for the PC file C:\CUBASE\gold\FCBUSINESS.fdfx.
In order to complete an upload from a PC to the System i, a companion file, which the system uses to format the data properly, must also be located on your PC. In this case, the files used for the FinCEN upload include FCBUSINESS.fdf and FCPERSON.fdf. With ING, these files are now located in a different location: C:\CUBASE\CUBASE\resources\ Substitue this for C:\CUBASE\gold\ in your instructions. NOTE: You may also get an error if the system cannot find these files in that directory. Alt More...

In CU*Spy on the End of Month tab I don’t see reports that I manually pulled and sent to MONTHxx. Is this only showing the automated reports?
Reports are categorized in CU*Spy according to the type of report, not the output queue to which they were printed. If a particular on-demand report also happens to be set up for Monthly Automation via the Report Scheduler, even if it is scheduled to print to the MONTHxx OUTQ it will still go to the same category in CU*Spy as always, not to the End of Month tab. Hint: When you are checking your automated reports to make sure they all ran, rather than try to remember where they normally get place More...

When uploading a file I receive the error message saying "MSGFI002 The file could not be found." and lists the path to a .fdfx file. How do I resolve this?
Every upload to CU*BASE via Tool #1375 Data Transfers (Uploads and Downloads) requires a companion file which the system uses to format the data properly. These files must be located on your PC and have a file extension of .FDFX. The standard tables available for uploading can be found on your PC, by following this path: C:\cubase\cubase\resources Examples of these standard options include – DMPIMPORT, FCBUSINESS, FCPERSON, IMPEMAIL, and more. If our tax forms are uploaded to "It's Me 247", how will members who are not enrolled in eStatements receive their tax documents?
Regardless of whether a member is enrolled in eStatements, the member will receive a paper copy of their tax documents in the mail, provided they earned enough dividends (or paid enough interest) through the tax year to qualify for a tax form. The presentation of tax documents in the My Documents section of It's Me 247 is an additional convenience that makes the forms readily available online, often earlier than they are provided by via mail. I received a notification that there are changes being made to CTR forms. In August 2017, new fields are being added to CTR forms that are required to be in compliance. What is CU*Answers doing to be in compliance with these changes?
You are referring to this announcement released by FinCEN in May. We currently have a project sheet (#45201) to comply with these required changes. NOTE: The deadlines refer to when FinCEN will begin being able to receive the new data, not the date when the new data must be sent. We continue to track this project with FinCEN and will alert clients when changes have been made that will affect their day-to-day activities.

Is there a way to pull a report or query for all transactions over $10,000 that would qualify for a CTR other than Tool #984 Work Daily BSA/CTR Activity?
A BSA report that is sent to CU*Spy daily is LBKSC3. This report helps you track transactions subject to BSA reporting. It is also recommended to schedule Tool #633 Print BSA/SAR Activity Report to run each month and save to the INSTANTxx output queue.

Why did a CTR pop for a transaction totaling less than $10,000, and after cancelling the transaction, it showed up in our BSA activity inquiry as having a large withdrawal?
This occurs when a large amount is entered in the cash in field, a substantially smaller amount amount is deposited, and the rest of the transaction is processed as a cash out transaction totalling more than $10,000. Even though the cash did not affect the account, the activity is still recorded and warrants review.

If a joint owner of an account is doing a cash transaction over $10,000, when the CTR form pops up it has the primary owner’s information and Social Security number on the form. How can we make sure that the joint owner’s information and SSN pops up on the CTR form instead?
The correct way to fill out the CTR form is for it to show the primary member and then the teller chooses on whose behalf the transaction was being made. Then add the joint owner as the person conducting business on behalf of another.
