My credit union is part of Xtend Shared Branching. Can we ever be included in a CU*BASE release beta test?
It depends. Using shared branching does not automatically exclude you from the beta pool! But the specific changes being made can affect how your credit union works with others who are not part of the beta. The most common example is shared branching but might also include vendor relationships as well. This becomes an issue when the release includes changes to the database structure itself (new data in files or changes to the data’s format). CU*BASE requires that all of the data used More...

We just got a CU*BASE software release and now when I try to run one of my custom Queries I get an error message, "Level for file XXXXX in XXXX does not match query (I C)." What should I do?
This occurs when the release includes changes to the files that your Query uses. For example, if we add a new field to the MASTER file, any Query you have that uses that file will display an error message. Fortunately, it is very easy to refresh your Query so that you can use it again. All you need to do is access the Query and save it. That's all. You don't have to make changes to it, it's just important that you save it so it can refresh itself to match the new file layout. More...

Can a CSR reset my employee ID password?
No, our CSRs will not reset the 2-character CU*BASE Employee IDs for your staff. This must be done by an internal CU security officer. Use Tool #762 Reset Employee ID Password . (This can also be done via Tool #327 CU*BASE Employee Security using the Reset PW option.) It is important that credit unions insure proper training to their employees regarding the expiration of their CU*BASE Employee ID password. We deliver a warning message of expiration 7 business days prior to the staff member. More...

Why does my credit union need Station Control for CBX?
As we transition from CU*BASE GOLD to CBX, we are shifting from an application that runs directly on a workstation to a more modern, browser-based solution. Previously, CU*BASE GOLD relied on command-line arguments and local temporary files to interact with multiple applications. This approach is not sustainable for the future, as web browsers lack the capability to execute command-line requests and require called applications to be installed and registered on the system. To address this limitat More...

How do member phone numbers work as they relate to card orders and maintenance?
CU*BASE uses phone numbers that are stored in the MASTPH file when generating card activation information to send to vendors on initial card orders. The numbers in MASTPH are determined by the label/flag applied in Tool #3 Open/Maintain Memberships/Accounts or Tool #15 Update Membership Information as follows: Nighttime # - primary phone number sent to vendor and defaulting into the Card Activation field when ordering a card. Daytime # - secondary phone number sent to the vendor. Mobile – More...

How Does GOLD/CBX Connectivity with Carrier Grade NATs (Starlink/Cellular 4G/Cellular 5G) or Dynamic IPs (DSL, P2P Wireless, Lower Tier ISPs) work?
All VPN data connections directly to your data processor (CU*Answers, CU*Northwest, CU*South, etc.) should be anchored by a stable internet service provider (ISP) with a static IP. Outlier branches that receive CBX/GOLD connectivity through a primary or secondary location (which has a static IP and VPN tunnel back to the data processor) can leverage Dynamic DNS, Dialup VPN IPSEC, and SD-WAN with multiple ISPs to form more stable connections back to the data processors using their primary/seconda More...

How do individual PCs update during a CU*BASE software release?
Each time a PC opens a session at your site, it checks your update server for new files. When it finds them, it will pull the new files over and the PC will be updated. Each branch location is required to have a GUAPPLE workstation. This device serves as the update server for that branch location. A GUAPPLE ( G OLD U PDATE AP PLIANCE) is a small server managed by CU*Answers that automatically downloads the GOLD updates and makes them available to your workstations, with no intervention from th More...

What configurations are needed to release the full amount of the check right away if I use RDC-IQ as my remote deposit capture (RDC) solution?
With your onboarding to RDC-IQ we will review the following with you to ensure your members’ check funds are released as you expect. For a check to be available right away, your credit union business rules (through e-DOC) will need to be set so that you do not need to review every check as it is processed. For example, your business rules must be set such that items at or below a chosen amount are not held for review, the maximum number of items a member can deposit is appropriate, and t More...

What time-frame should I consider when turning on PIB?
Online Banking continue to work just fine whether you decide to activate PIB or not. Yo u should not activate PIB without some careful planning and preparation. You need a plan. A plan for marketing the change to members. A plan to train your staff. A plan for rolling out the changes with an acceptable level of disruption to members and staff. A plan to handle the increase in phone calls and frustrated members. A plan to make this part of your process for opening new memberships. More...

Why does CU*BASE show delinquency in two different ways? In some places it is months/days and others it is actual number of days.
There are two methods used to track delinquent loans for reporting purposes in CU*BASE: Method One (for Collections tracking) We have always tracked delinquency in two separate fields for “Months” and ‘Days” in the member files. When a loan is 30 days delinquent, it shows as “0 Months, 30 Days” delinquent. When a loan is 31 days delinquent, it is “1 Month, 0 Days” delinquent. A month is always considered 30 days regardless of the actual number o More...

Where did my HMDA data from the CLMLTRL table go when the 21.10 release was implemented?
At the time of the 21.10 release a conversion program was run to remove any relevant data that lived in the CLMLTRL table to its new home in the HMDAFDTA table. Keep in mind that if your credit union was not populating data to any of the 19 fields in the CLMLTRL table, there was nothing to transition to the new table. You may find the new table empty in this case.
