We sometimes have non-member joint owners that join the credit union, or closed memberships that re-join later on. When I create the membership I choose to copy that old data into the new membership so I don’t have to retype everything. What happens with the phone numbers in those cases?
If you are creating a membership by copying over the data from an existing non-member record (like a joint owner or co-borrower is joining the credit union), the system will copy over all phone numbers tied to that non-member record and attach them to the new membership, then delete the old numbers tied to the non-member (since the non-member record itself also gets deleted at that time). This is not the same when copying from another existing membership , or when copying from a closed membershi More...

If I make a change to a phone number on a membership record on CU*BASE, will this information get sent to my EFT vendor and update this member's records on their system?
Updates to fields such as address, phone number, mother’s maiden name, email, or code word, as well as phone number deletion, re-arranging phone numbers by Seq #, and changing phone number flags triggers a vendor maintenance record. Please be aware, any maintenance will update all cards attached to that membership! When a maintenance record is triggered, the phone numbers in CU*BASE will be transmitted to the vendor as they are labeled in MASTPH. This means that if the Primary phone number More...

Can I monitor which specific accounts my employees are accessing via Inquiry and Phone Operator? Can I see what menu options they are trying to access?
Yes, CU*BASE has Employee Security features that let you monitor access to CU*BASE programs by any employee ID, whether CU*Answers or credit union employee. Every time a CU*BASE program is accessed, the system records who accessed the command and when. For CU*Answers employees, the file records the individual ID for the staff member (not the alias) so you will be able to tell who from CU*Answers was doing the work. This file (file name SECAUD) was designed to let you see what commands an emplo More...

How do member phone numbers work as they relate to card orders and maintenance?
CU*BASE uses phone numbers that are stored in the MASTPH file when generating card activation information to send to vendors on initial card orders. The numbers in MASTPH are determined by the label/flag applied in Tool #3 Open/Maintain Memberships/Accounts or Tool #15 Update Membership Information as follows: Nighttime # - primary phone number sent to vendor and defaulting into the Card Activation field when ordering a card. Daytime # - secondary phone number sent to the vendor. Mobile – More...

What if I want to add a new primary (sequence 1) phone # for a member while still keeping the existing numbers? I’m getting an error that I cannot use an existing sequence number.
That’s true when adding a brand-new record, but it is possible to re-sequence numbers later once the records already exist, so try this: Use Add and add the new contact number, leaving the sequence # as is After saving, select the new number in the list and use Edit Change the sequence # to 1 and press Enter A warning message will appear; use Add/Update to confirm All remaining phone numbers will be re-sequenced to fit the new one in. TIP: When changing the sequence number for an existin More...

One of our members tried to set up biometric authentication for the mobile app. The app said setup was successful, but he was unable to use any of the biometrics to log in. He tried multiple times and is now locked. He uninstalled and reinstalled the app. He also restarted his phone. After restarting, he was notified that authentication is temporarily locked.
The member will need to wait 15-20 minutes until they are unlocked. Or the member can also toggle to the standard login process and enter their username, password, and answer to security question, then access the settings info option from the More menu, and they can reset their app data or go into authentication options and reset authentication options on all devices to re-establish their MACO features.

I have a member who is requesting a copy of his statement from November of last year. I went in to Phone Operator to see if I could get a copy for him, and noticed that a statement was not produced for November. Why is this?
The most likely reason is that the member did not have any activity for the month that would trigger a statement, based on the CU's configuration. Most credit unions have their statement configuration set up to print a monthly statement only if the member has a checking account, and only if there is activity on that account, saving postage costs on months when there is no activity. You can verify this by viewing his Share Draft Transaction Inquiry in Phone Operator, then compare that to yo More...

There are still screens and reports here and there that show labels such as “Home phone” and “Cell phone” but those don’t look like my CU-defined labels nor the ones entered when setting up the phone number for the member. What do these labels mean?
When the new database was created it was not feasible to adjust all of the hundreds of programs, custom forms, and reports where phone numbers happened to be used. So the original labels used prior to the 18.07 release may still appear here and there. That’s why the new database automatically copies contact numbers back to the original locations in MASTER and MASTRL, so these locations can still be used by those programs that were not adjusted to use the new MASTPH table directly. As a r More...

We need to contact a member, but I know their phone number is wrong, and they use online banking. Is there any way to send them a message through online banking to contact the credit union?
You can do this by going to Phone Operator and selecting F9-Add Cmt/Message. Then select option 1 and create a new line with comment type 7. This next screen will list 22 options for an audio response message, but you can select 99 for an online banking message. Type your message in the next screen and save changes. What browsers does CU*Spy support for member eStatements?
CU*Spy supports current versions of IE , Firefox and Chrome. Safari is not officially supported but typically works. Usually if Safari has issues, in our experience, it is with displaying PDFs. Should this occur, this issue is outside of the CU*Spy web application and exists between the browser and it's ability to display PDFs and therefore we have no ability to correct this situation.

I would like to write some custom Queries to find out how many mobile phone numbers I’ve gathered. Since I can’t force the label to be consistent, how do I do that?
If you are interested in being able to find out how many mobile phone numbers you have in your database, instruct your team to take advantage of the Mobile phone checkbox, which can be checked for any stored contact number. Then when creating a Query of the MASTPH file look for numbers with a Y in the MTPEFT field.

Will we know if a bill is be paid by ACH or check in "It's Me 247" bill pay (Fiserv)? If so, how? How will stop payments be handled?
The most important thing to understand is when the bill will be received, not how it will be paid. Payment methods are determined by the relationship between Fiserv and the biller, and are subject to change. When scheduling a payment, the system automatically pre-fills the earliest payment date the biller can receive the payment. The date can be altered to a future date, but not an earlier date. Once a payment begins processing, you will be able to view the payment method in the history. If the More...

If a loan category is configured for a single payment per period (members are not allowed to pay ahead), at what point does the system know when to advance the next payment date and when it should not?
The system will advance the next payment due date depending on the payments made during the “payment period” window, which runs from due date to due date (which is not always calendar month). Once the next payment period begins, any payments made will count towards the payment amount due until it is fully satisfied, at which point the due date will advance to the next payment period. Payments may still be made during the current payment period; however, any overpayments will be c More...

We are thinking of activating the new See and Jump features for online banking. Can you explain the thinking behind the security, and why only an account owner can have this access?
IMPORTANT NOTE: When It’s Me 247 was updated in 2021, the “See” option shown on here was made unavailable. There are two major points to consider when thinking about allowing members to see information beyond the account to which they are actually logged in. Both extend beyond online banking to consider a financial institution’s role and responsibility in protecting member private data via all access channels, from the teller line to a back office employee answering More...

What models of TCDs (Teller Cash Dispensers) are supported by CU*Answers?
Our official statement is that CU*BASE is not integrated with any TCD or TCR hardware solution; however, you may find the information below helpful. For online and Site-Four credit unions, that date is Sunday, July 12. Self-processing credit unions will receive the release the following Sunday, July 19. My member is enrolled for text banking and told me that her phone number had changed. I changed the number in the CU*BASE phone number database but she is still not able to use text banking. Can I help her?
The database that stores members who are enrolled for text banking is completely separate from the phone number database (MASTPH) used to record all of the member’s contact numbers. Remember that the Mobile flag is for reference, and also used to send mobile numbers to some EFT vendors. To update the text banking numbers, the member will need to log into It’s Me 247 desktop or mobile web banking, select Go Mobile then use the Text Banking “Enrolled Phone Numbers” feature More...

Why on an ATM or Debit card do I need to flag a member's card as "hot" and also close the same card in order to close the linked account or close the membership?
When a credit union statuses a member's card as 'HOT' or warm (Lost/Stolen/Fraud/Restricted), this information is transmitted immediately to your vendor to stop any further withdrawals/purchases being performed with that particular card. But at your vendor a 'Hot Card' is not considered to be a closed card. When your member's card remains at a HOT or Warm card status on CU*BASE, CU*BASE is still required to send any maintenance updates such as address change, phone numbe More...
