What is the benefit of having members use the login pages rather than logging in directly from my website?
Using a link to the standard login pages provides much more than just the ability to log in: The I forgot my password link that allows them to reset their password online They have to set up the Security Questions anyway; why not give them a place to use them to help themselves if they forget their password? The Apply for Membership link to capture membership applications and work them right from CU*BASE (no rekeying!) Why would you not allow every possible opportunity for someone to say th More...

One of my members has received communications directly from "CheckFree" about online bill pay. Why would Fiserv be sending something directly to them?
Remember that Fiservoffers their CheckFree service direct to consumers and via many other financial institutions throughout the country, including banks and other, non-CU*BASE credit unions. The CheckFree Direct product is called mycheckfree and members may sign up for this themselves from many different sources on the Internet. When looking at the ATM/Debit or Credit Card Activity screen, what does the indicator in the Type and Transaction Description mean?
The fields are related to Process Codes, in that they are derived from the code attached to the message received from the plastics processor (vendor, or switch). The Type you see in the initial Type column of the Activity screen relates directly to the Transaction Description when you view additional transaction details. Transaction types may not apply to all vendors. Examples of these labels are as follows: DEP (Deposit Transactions) ATM/DEP A deposit made at an ATM. ATM/DEP - including a $ More...

When downloading a file in Tool #1375 File Transfers (Upload or Download), I am experiencing very slow transfer times. What could be a reason for this?
If you observe drastically reduced download speeds (such as anything over 5 minutes), it is most commonly due to issues translating the date fields between the CU*BASE file and the PC file. The Data Transfer tool will still complete the download, however, there are steps you can take to speed things along. To troubleshoot this issue, access Tool #1375 File Transfers (Upload or Download) , navigate to the From IBM i -2 tab and select the Format Options button in the File section. On the pop-u More...

I'd like to have a PDF copy of a report that I can include in my Board packet. I know I can get that from CU*Spy for daily and monthly reports, but what about a report I'm generating myself?
If your credit union uses the CU*Spy online vault, it's easy! Just choose INSTANTxx (where xx is your credit union CUID) as the printer name when printing any CU*BASE report. When the report is generated it will be sent directly to the new INSTANT OUTQ. CU*Spy will regularly monitor for reports sent to this queue and within a few minutes, you’ll see the report under the “Instant Reports” tab in CU*Spy. It will be indexed with the name of the report. How can I manipulate the date fields in a CU*BASE download to save as a date in Excel?
When using Tool #1375 Data Transfers (Upload or Download) to download a system-generated file and save to an Excel file, sometimes the date fields save as a number (such as 61219) rather than a date (6/12/2019 or 6/12/19). This number can't be converted to a date in Excel except by manually retyping each date. The tool has a format button, but this appears to have no effect on the file that is produced. The tool itself is an IBM tool so we cannot alter how it works, but we do have a few tech More...

My member has an AFT set up with the payment date controls set to “2=Make this payment ONLY if a payment is not made another way” for their membership. This month my member did not have enough money in the From: account when the AFT transfer was processed, but she made a payment afterwards directly to the loan to fulfill rest of the loan payment. Why were the AFT funds not transferred to the loan account?
In this example the AFT was set with a payment date control of “2=Make this payment ONLY if a payment is not made another way for their membership.” On the date of the scheduled AFT, the AFT will look to see if the payment is made on the loan. If the amount in the From: account is does not satisfy the AFT, the amount paid will go in the partial pay field of the AFT . (The loan partial pay field is only evaluated the first time the AFT is processed.) From that point forward, an AFT More...

We are interested in using RDC-IQ and are currently using a vendor other than eDOC Innovations (UrbanFT) for RDC Posting Services (batch posting). Can we move directly to use RDC-IQ with eDOC Innovations as the vendor?
This can be done if you completely close down your program with your existing vendor and do a hard cutover to RDC-IQ. However, depending on the status of your program, you may want to allow your members time to migrate. If you use a vendor other than eDOC Innovations for batch posting (UrbanFT, for example) and want to use RDC-IQ, we recommend that you first migrate to eDOC Innovations and use RDC Posting Services (a batch file process). Once you terminate your program with the former vendor, w More...

If there a list that I can download into Excel of all of the tools in CU*BASE (with tool # and description), regardless of who is assigned?
There isn't a tool for this, but what you can do to generate a list of all tools available for your credit union is create a template or temporary employee ID in T ool #327 CU*BASE Employee Security and assign it every tool. Then you can use Tool #357 Employee Security Audit Report to un the Employee Security Audit Report. Run it for the assigned tools only and it will print a report listing all the tools assigned to that employee, which in that case would be all the tools. To get this int More...

I have a husband and wife who both receive Social Security payments to the same membership. Now that CU*BASE uses the new way of handling ACH transactions from the SSA, these are causing duplicate distributions to be posted. What should I do if my members still wish for them to be separate transactions?
With the 16.10 release a new cross-reference system was implemented that automatically funnels all incoming company IDs from the Social Security Administration and treat them as if they came from one, consistent company ID we’re referring to as the “Primary ID.” In cases where the Depositor ID is the same, for example a husband and wife, these ACH transactions will be handled by the same master ACH distribution record under the Depositor ID since duplicate Depositor IDs are no More...

I am receiving a 'printer timeout error' when trying to print a document to my HP Laserjet 2200. What should I do?
The first thing to do is make sure all the cables are connected securely to the printer and the PC. Be sure to note if one of the cables is a network cable. If all of the cables are securely connected and you still cannot print, restart the PC and the printer. If you receive the same error once the printer and PC are back up, there is likely a hardware issue with the printer. If one of the cables that plugs into the printer is a network cable then the Jet Direct card (a network interface More...
