I understand CU*Answers is in the process of updating its current SSL certificate to industry standards, and this requires each computer that is being used for CU*BASE printing to be have a file updated. What do I need to do?
These files should automatically be placed into the correct spots to ensure that Iaccess continues to work without any problems. If you want to verify that you have received this file you can follow these few steps: Open My computer Navigate to c:\users\public\documents\ibm\client access\ Verify the current file size of “cwbssldf.kdb” If this file size is 30kb then everything worked correctly and you don’t have to do anything else. If this file size is different follow steps More...

How do I charge off a base share (000) account so that I can take a loss on an overdrawn account? I understand that I cannot use Tool #201 (Charge Off Savings/Checking) to charge off the base share account.
In order to take a loss on an overdrawn base share (000) account (closing the entire membership), do the following: First, using Tool #492 Member Account Adjustment (Full) , make an adjustment to zero out the balance for the amount of the loss and assign it to the general ledger account associated with this type of loss, per your credit union policies and procedures. Then close the membership using Tool #22 Close Memberships/Accounts . Per your credit union policies and procedures, you may More...

On some of my 1098 tax forms, members who just opened a loan this year are seeing an amount under “Box 2. Outstanding Mortgage Principal” that they don’t understand. Where does this figure come from?
The IRS, which makes changes to tax form layouts almost every year, recently added this new informational box to form 1098 to report the balance on a mortgage account as of January 1 of that same tax year. Each year on January 1 we capture the loan balance on all loan accounts in a special file, and then when tax forms are created at the end of the year we can use that figure. Therefore, for loans that were opened in a prior tax year, this balance is usually easy for members to understand. More...

Will we know if a bill is be paid by ACH or check in "It's Me 247" bill pay (Fiserv)? If so, how? How will stop payments be handled?
The most important thing to understand is when the bill will be received, not how it will be paid. Payment methods are determined by the relationship between Fiserv and the biller, and are subject to change. When scheduling a payment, the system automatically pre-fills the earliest payment date the biller can receive the payment. The date can be altered to a future date, but not an earlier date. Once a payment begins processing, you will be able to view the payment method in the history. If the More...

I'm hearing from members that emails we send to them don't always reach them quickly, or are being marked as spam and blocked. Is there anything we can do to help make sure members receive emails from the credit union?
Remember that once the emails are sent by CU*BASE, it becomes a function of various email service providers to deliver the emails to members. Because of the way our system can send a batch of email messages to a large group of members at the same time, there may be some providers that interpret these email messages as “spam” (junk email) messages, especially if you have a large number of members who use the same provider (such as Gmail). If you hear from members that your emails ar More...

Where does CBX get the account descriptions that members see in online banking and on their statement?
CBX does have several different places where product descriptions can be configured, each used for different purposes. It's common for the descriptions to be entered the same into each configuration, but there are reasons why they are sometimes slightly different. For example, if you use the same range of account suffixes across several of your checking account products, your account suffix description might be something general like Checking whereas the description entered into the Divi More...

Can I flag a member account so their statement is never mailed?
Yes, the Statement Mail Groups feature lets you configure up to 9 codes that can be attached to a member's account. The codes specify whether statements should be printed and archived (the standard method) or just archived only. This is used in situations such as for members with written-off loans or bankruptcy situations where the member shouldn't receive a statement, or even if you want to avoid printing statements for your own staff. What do the various device and print job statuses on the iSeries mean?
When a device first connects to the iSeries, a virtual device is created - consider it a placeholder for that workstation or printer. Throughout the virtual devices lifecycle, there are several different statuses that device can be in. Read below for some details! We are thinking of activating the new See and Jump features for online banking. Can you explain the thinking behind the security, and why only an account owner can have this access?
IMPORTANT NOTE: When It’s Me 247 was updated in 2021, the “See” option shown on here was made unavailable. There are two major points to consider when thinking about allowing members to see information beyond the account to which they are actually logged in. Both extend beyond online banking to consider a financial institution’s role and responsibility in protecting member private data via all access channels, from the teller line to a back office employee answering More...

What is the best way to set up a trust account on CU*BASE?
Trust accounts can be set up as either individual or organizational depending on the legal nature of the trust. Following are recommendations for handling situations when a member wants to set up a membership where the primary member and the first joint owner are, in essence, the same person. This happens most often for trust accounts. Currently in CU*BASE there are two ways to handle trusts: For trusts that use a person’s SSN (where you do not have a separate TIN for the trust), set up th More...

I see that my member's loan account is in the credit bureau reporting file but it isn't reflected on the individual's credit report. What types of things might prevent a primary borrower or additional signer from being applied by the bureau?
If you or your member notice an account is not being updated (or the additional signer on a loan) you should first try to find out if the loan/additional signer was included in the file sent over to the bureau. You can do this for the most recent reporting cycle by running Tool #658 Print Loan Info Sent to Credit Bureau . Why does my credit union need Station Control for CBX?
As we transition from CU*BASE GOLD to CBX, we are shifting from an application that runs directly on a workstation to a more modern, browser-based solution. Previously, CU*BASE GOLD relied on command-line arguments and local temporary files to interact with multiple applications. This approach is not sustainable for the future, as web browsers lack the capability to execute command-line requests and require called applications to be installed and registered on the system.
